Elder Sages

For tens of thousands of years, men and women elder sages were the wisdom-keepers in human societies around the world. Elders took special responsibility for the welfare and development of young people, and played the special role of ensuring that tribal decisions took into consideration the welfare of future generations.

Largely lost in our youth-oriented culture, the powerful voices of elder sages are desperately needed.  Reclaiming Our Elders Voice workshops and this website are devoted to encouraging elders to reclaim our elders voice – to intentionally become sages; to leave a legacy through our contributions to our community, nation, and world; and to speak powerfully on behalf of generations to come.

Use This Website For:

Role of Elders: A discussion of the role of elders in human societies, and an image of elders for our time.

Developing Our Inner Elder:  Tools we can use to develop the qualities of an elder sage.

To Serve Future Generations:  Ideas for enhancing the legacy we each can leave through service to future generations.

Elders Forum:  Be involved in an on-going discussion of eldering in today’s world.
